  This gem was cut by me from a 7.31 carat crystal. I bought this rough from Tanzania in 2008. Chromium tourmaline is more rare than tsavorite garnet... Most of the time this material is either too saturated and cuts a black gem or it is very pastel and looks like a mint garnet. This one is in the middle which is why it is unusual. This is either for the collector of the rare or for someone that wants something totally unusual for their jewelry. No treatments in any way and it is just a very fine and brilliant gem. Tests red-orange under the chelsea filter for chromium bearing minerals.
