  This gem was re-cut by me from a 4.18 carat off center culet step cut pavilion gem that was totally lifeless... I bought a large parcel of these poorly cut gems from Tanzania in 2024. I knew they were different as I had already tested them but I always get a second opinion from the lab. I had not used this lab before but had heard of them; so when one of my cutting friends said he was send some stone to them, I asked if I could share the postage and insurance and send a few myself, so we did. This is unusual material and this one is almost achroite which means colorless and to be very UV reactive is very unusual as now I know the trade is calling them "dragon" garnet because they go hot pink under UV lighting. I had no clue there was a trade name for them now; but they are very bright and have excellent light return. I only added the price of the report and no postage or ins. both ways to keep the price down. This will make a stunning ring or pendant.
