  I re-cut this gem from a 5.8 carat gem the same shape but had a rough crown that I bought with all the other rubies back in 1998. I saved it back in case Rachelle wanted a cabochon everyday ring but she opted for a Sri Lanka pink oval cabochon sapphire one instead, and since I do not wear rings these days i decided to part with it. I am sure like all the rest of those rubies I sent to the lab that it is heated and clarity residues which in reality is just borax they use in the crucible when they heat it to drive out the oxygen. But in any case this is one stunning ruby cabochon, nothing nasty reaches the surface and the little pits on the back are nothing but i show everything I think a person needs to know before purchasing, but this ruby cab is AWESOMEE !!!
