  This is a flawless mumei Japanese gendaito katana with a wonderful flashy hamon. Very close to the 3 cedar hamon style but not exactly. I have seen a lot of hamon designs but this one is quite different and very controlled. Very tight almost muji. This blade could be gendaito or shinshinto; but my guess is gendaito. The nakago is unsigned and has no stamps but does have dress file marks. This blade was in a naval say with nothing else. The blade has a new hardrock maple tsuka, fine namikawa same, black cotton ito, very nice early edo iron tsuba, matching edo period fuchi and kashira and meji period monkey menuki. New saya from Ho wood with textured finish. This blade is flawless, almost Ichimai Boshi or full tempered kissaki. The sori is 9/16 inch , width at Ha machi is 1 3/16 inch, nagasa is 26 1/16 inch, overall length is 33 7/8 inch. Professionally framed surrender tag. This is a very well made and balanced katana...
