Notes:
Tanto early shinto period. Original 2 piece habaki gold washed and saya. Modern fuchi and kashira, 28 cm nagasa, 4mm sori, 4.8 mm thickness at ha machi, 2.73 cm width at ha machi. ubu or one hole nakago, hard rock maple tsuka made by me as all the Ho wood original tsukas I have had to take apart were always cracked from it being a soft wood, hard rock maple is just that and you can not carve out the nakago section, you have to use a carbide cutting tool and dremel it out to the correct fit, yes it is more work but so much force is put on the handle, especially in battle for your life..., gunome hamon wide, full turnback boshi in kissaki. this was a very badly rusted tanto with chips and I could not get all the pitting out without the risk of getting to shingane or core steel if that was the construction, this was another early polish blade of mine that was polished some 12 to 13 years ago. It is a blank canvas with foundation polish done and one pass with hazuya fingerstones. Several more passes with hazuya and jitzuya will bring out a lot of activity in this blade, also applying the sami and wrapping with the color choice of ito will be the new owners fun task. I only wrap for myself these days and if I went with blue, they wanted green, etc. just like with the gems, I do not set the stones in mounts to sell anymore as I always choose the wrong color, metal type, etc. so I am leaving that up to the new caretaker. It is not hard or expensive supplies like bench stone work as I have over 5000 dollars just in stones, koppa, etc. Nothing that will keep this blade from doing the purpose it was designed to do, no fatal flaws, chips, etc. just some light pitting sections that were just too risky to remove.. no tsuba with this blade and I did not have any in stock that would fit it as most of my antique tsuba are for either katana or wakizashi. I collected nihonto furniture before I started polishing them. We will do videos of each of these blades at a later date, sorry but we are working on our photography skills on the blades as the set up is totally different than gems. so please bare with us. Any question feel free to email us. Thank you ** NO RETURNS or exchange on swords/ blades Unless item not as described- WE try to be extremely accurate with our descriptions. Please contact us with questions prior to purchase.
