  This gem was cut by me from a piece of 8.31 carat rough bought in 2000 from Hilmar Bosch when this first came out. The stuff was expensive then as it is now and not that common. It always had some inclusions but this piece is very clean for that material. I put a fancy cut on it and was going to save it to bezel set thus the thicker girdle; but it can still be set traditionally. It is wonderful material and no treatments in any way.. It was given that name by the native people in that area as it mimicked the Santa Maria material from Brazil.
